“Deliverance” is a photograph taken during the making of “Oceans Apart,” a short dance film by filmmaker Audrey Billups (pictured), bringing awareness for ocean conservation. She wears a garment made of found fishing nets discarded on beaches.

Abandoned fishing nets also known as “ghost gear” is a top killer for marine life, including sea turtles, dolphins, monk seals, sharks and birds. A recent report by World Wildlife (WWF), states it has driven marine mammals to a brink of extinction, while also damaging coral reefs and mangrove regions.
